A HIP-hop entrepreneur from East Morton has won a coveted accolade from the Prime Minister.

Sabir Hussain, popularly known as Saby Khan, has received the Points of Light Award for โ€œexceptional serviceโ€ after founding British Asian Radio โ€“ the first station of its kind in the UK for independent artists, musicians and rappers.

The Points of Light Award was introduced in the UK in 2014 to recognise outstanding achievement. It was presented to Saby, on behalf of Boris Johnson, by Keighley MP Robbie Moore.

โ€œI was shocked when I learned I was to receive the award โ€“ which is second only to the Queenโ€™s honours,โ€ said Saby.

โ€œI would like to thank my family and friends for helping me build British Asian Radio. The Prime Minister saw the hard work put in to making it a success.โ€

Saby has worked with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Black Eyed Peas, and is now working on major projects in the film industry.

Mr Moore said: โ€œSaby is a worthy recipient of this highly-acclaimed award. His contribution to British Asian Radio has been pivotal in its success. He has a proven track record in championing multi-media music production and campaigning for racial equality. Saby serves as an inspiration and a role model to young people across Keighley, Bradford and the entire UK.โ€
