Rapper Julio Foolio, known for his hit song “Pain,” tragically passed away at the age of 26 after being shot outside a Holiday Inn in Florida early Sunday morning (June 23). His attorney, Lewis Fusco, confirmed the devastating news to NBC News.

Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was celebrating his 26th birthday on Saturday night (June 22) with friends at a nearby Airbnb. The celebration took a dark turn when authorities reportedly shut down their party, forcing Jones and his crew to relocate to the Holiday Inn. It was there, in the early hours of Sunday morning, that the rapper was ambushed by assailants.

The Tampa Police Department responded to a 911 call around 4:40 a.m. ET and arrived at the hotel to find two vehicles in the parking lot riddled with bullets. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were taken to a local hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition.

The Tampa Police Department is actively working to identify those involved in the shooting and is seeking to uncover a motive behind the attack. They have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward by calling 813-231-6130.
