Moneybagg Yo's 'Wockesha' Rebounds Into Top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart

Moneybagg Yo bags a new top 10 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as "Wockesha" climbs 22-10 on the list dated Oct. 2. The single ascends thanks to a combination of increased radio airplay as well as some chart reshuffling following the recent influx of new songs from monster albums by Drake and Kanye West.
"Wockesha" becomes the Memphis-based rapper's second top 10, following "Said Sum," which reached No. 8 in 2020.
Before the track making it into the top 10 club this week, "Wockesha" nearly crossed the barrier a month ago, when it reached a then-best of No. 11 on the chart dated Sept. 4. Its upward progress, however, paused thanks to the arrivals of Kanye West's Donda and Drake's Certified Lover Boy in consecutive weeks. Through the impressive streaming reach of both acts and rather lengthy albums (Donda hosts 27 tracks, while Certified houses 21), West and Drake both overwhelmed the top 10 with new songs in their respective debut weeks that forced "Wockesha" and other current hits drop on the list. As the flood subsides and chart tides return to normal, "Wockesha" and other challengers mount successful rebounds.
That isn't to say it's all about West or Drake, though. "Wockesha," which had climbed the chart before Donda and Certified, improves its own standing thanks to its growing reach with R&B/hip-hop radio programmers. Although the single reached No. 1 on the plays-based Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for two weeks in August – September, it improves 3-2 on the current list as it added 7% in plays in the week ending Sept. 26, according to MRC Data.
Similarly, the tune is also a former champ on the audience-based R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and though it dips 2-3 on the newest list, it still gained 7% to 17.2 million in listenership in the tracking week.
Consecutively, "Wockesha" nabs two new radio peak positions. On Rap Airplay, it scores a 3-2 lift and a 10% audience boost, while it pushes 16-13 on Rhythmic Airplay thanks to 20% more plays in the week on the radio format.
"Wockesha" appears on the rapper's latest album, A Gangsta's Pain. The set, released in April, marked Moneybagg Yo's first No. 1 project on both the all-genre Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
