The Nigerian Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, has unknowingly revealed in a video that he and his colleagues received an ‘enjoyment allowance’ from the National Assembly for their vacation.
The disheartening news of the purported enjoyment allowance to senators amid the economic crunch occasioned by fuel subsidy removal came to many Nigerians as a slap in the face.
There are insinuations that the senate president was unaware that the proceeding was being televised by the NTA news when he mistakenly revealed that the said enjoyment allowance had been sent to senators for their holidays.

In the viral video making rounds on the internet, the senate president withdrew his remark after discovering he was live.
“As soon as Senator Umahi takes his oath of office, we shall rearrange the office of the leadership. To enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly,” he said.
Following the removal of fuel subsidies in June, the masses have been suffering from hikes in the cost of transportation, goods and services.
