Freddysphere – Les expats

Mr. Benjamins Avatar

Freddysphere’s musical journey began in 2008 with the release of his debut album, “Mes Couleurs.” This soulful collection, produced by Guillaume Poncelet (who has worked with Gaรซl Faye, Ben Mazuรฉ, and Oxmo Puccino), established Freddysphere’s talent for weaving soulful melodies. His follow-up, “Un jour jโ€™รฉcrirai,” released in 2017, showcased his ambition, blending soul, jazz, blues, and hip-hop into a unique and captivating sound.

Freddysphere’s musical inspirations paint a vivid picture โ€“ a deep love for the rich sounds of African-American music alongside a profound appreciation for French chanson. This unique blend is evident in his collaborations, such as co-writing the song “SOULMAN” for Ben l’oncle Soul. His music bridges the gap between these two seemingly disparate worlds, creating a sound that is entirely his own.

Freddysphere’s artistry is more than just a combination of influences. He possesses a sharp wit, evident in his insightful lyrics. His ability to craft thought-provoking messages while maintaining a smooth musical groove sets him apart. His songs are not just catchy tunes, but vibrant stories that elevate the ordinary aspects of life into something profound and timeless.

Freddysphere excels at finding the humor in the everyday. He tackles the complexities and ironies of life with a refreshing sense of lightness. His lyrics become anthems, reminding us to embrace life’s challenges with a smile.

Freddysphere is back with a brand new single, “The Expats,” released on May 7th, 2024. This exciting release marks the lead-up to his highly anticipated third album, “Galac,” dropping on May 24th, 2024. “Galac” is a self-produced work that sees Freddysphere firmly embracing rap singing, showcasing a new direction in his artistic evolution.

Freddysphere’s talent has not gone unnoticed. He has garnered praise from esteemed music critics, including Daniel Geiselhart who commends him for finding his artistic identity at the intersection of American soul and French chanson. Rap Mag hails him for pushing the boundaries of the French soul scene, while Olivier Gangemi recognizes his multifaceted talent as a songwriter, composer, and performer who delivers a “timeless, authentic fresco of rare maturity.”
