Former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, has expressed her reluctance to return to the presidential residence at Aso Rock, citing the challenges and stress associated with living there. Patience Jonathan, who resided in the villa from 2007 to 2015 during her husband Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure as vice president and subsequently as president, spoke candidly about her experiences at a recent event.

She assumed the role of First Lady after the passing of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2010, succeeding Turai Yar’Adua in the position.

Addressing attendees, Patience Jonathan emphasized the toll that living in Aso Rock took on her, stating, “Because to me, if you call me now for Villa I won’t go there. I won’t go there. Don’t you see how young I am? Because the stress is so much. The stress of Nigeria is so much. If God manages to bring you out of it you should glorify God and thank God for the Lord’s doing because it’s marvellous in His eyes.”

She further elaborated on her stance, expressing a desire for peace and a different focus in her life. “He has taken you there once and you want to go there again? Me I won’t go o. I need peace o. I need your love. I want to share love with you. May God bless us o,” she declared.
