Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH (NNS) have successfully arrested two individuals and seized a wooden boat carrying 12,000 liters of Automated Gas Oil (AGO) at the Okarki Water Front in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. This operation is part of the ongoing efforts under Operation Delta Sanity, which aims to combat crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal refining activities in the region.

NNS Commander, Commodore Nanmar Lakan, presented the suspects on Friday and highlighted the importance of community involvement in combating such illegal activities. “Thanks to intelligence from vigilant citizens, we received credible information about an attempt to transport illegally refined AGO, commonly known as diesel, from the Okarki River. We promptly dispatched our personnel, who successfully intercepted the operation and arrested two suspects. The seized quantity is estimated at 12,000 liters.”

This interception marks a significant step in the fight against illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta, demonstrating the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding national resources. Commodore Lakan emphasized that the operation would continue to work closely with local communities to prevent future illegal activities and ensure the security of the regionโ€™s waterways.
