WINNIPEG, MB / MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE — Every once in a while, a record drops that doesn’t just ask for your attention; it demands your entire body and soul to drop their defenses, loosen their shoulders, and sink into the rhythm. If you’ve been wandering through the noise of over-engineered, hyper-commercialized club noise lately, consider this your official wake-up call and sanctuary rolled into one.
When Canadian-based producer, DJ, author, and empowerment speaker DJ SAvvy joined forces with Mozambican superstar Tamyris Moiane, they weren't just putting together a studio session—they were orchestrating a quiet revolution. The result? "Esperança," the titular heartbeat of SAvvy’s latest album, a project built entirely from the ground up as a grand celebration of feminine energy, resilience, and unconditional love.
"Esperança" is Portuguese for hope. But in the hands of SAvvy and Moiane, hope isn't a passive wish floating in the air. It is a radical, living act of rhythm.
THE BACKSTORY: FROM WINNIPEG TO THE LUSOPHONE WORLD
To truly appreciate the alchemy at play in "Esperança," you have to understand the architect behind the desk. DJ SAvvy isn't your average selector hitting play on a laptop. Having toured across ten countries, SAvvy has spent years building a career squarely at the intersection of movement, music, and deep human meaning.
When SAvvy set out to create a dedicated Women's Day project, the goal wasn't to release generic anthem platitudes. The mission was to build a bridge across oceans—connecting Winnipeg’s diverse creative canvas to the deeply rooted, soulful heritage of Lusophone Africa.
Enter Tamyris Moiane.
As one of the most celebrated and recognized voices in modern Kizomba and Zouk, Moiane brings an undisputed authenticity to the project. Her voice carries the warmth of Southern Africa, rich with emotional gravitas and effortlessly silky phrasing. When SAvvy paired Moiane’s soaring, soulful vocals with a smooth, laid-back ghetto zouk and soft urban backdrop, magic wasn't just made—it was cataloged for the history books.
"Hope is a radical act." — DJ SAvvy

Nothing is rushed; nothing feels forced or over-calculated. Every transition feels intentional, flowing with a natural ease that instantly pulls the listener into an almost meditative state of motion. You put it on, start swaying without thinking, and before you even realize what's happening, every ounce of daily stress just dissolves into the background.

It is versatile enough to serve as the soundtrack for late-night, candle-lit study sessions, yet vibrant enough to ignite an outdoor summer festival at sunset.
