Smokepurpp Talks On The Negative Effects of Lean

"That sh*t really f*cks up your stamina, really, everything," Smokepurpp shared. "It makes you slower. It really messes up everything, for real."

In a recent interview with Power 106 FM, Smokepurpp disclose making choice to quit the intake of lean, a syrup which is common in the Rap Hip Hop community and is usually flaunted in videos and widely spoken of in songs.

Lean, also known as purple drank, sizzurp, barre, and Texas tea, among other names, is a concoction of cough syrup, soda, hard candy, and, in some cases, alcohol. Originating in Houston, Texas, it’s typically served in a white Styrofoam cup.

The term “lean” comes from the position it tends to put you in after drinking it.

The rapper admitted that the first time he tried lean was when he was in high school. "I probably did that sh*t all the way up until earlier this year," he said before sharing how lean was affecting his health.

He said he noticed he'd gained weight  and that was the true reason why he decided to quit. "I was just using it to make music, to help me with my creativity," he revealed. "I guess it's cause like, I record a lot. I record every day, so it's like, I felt like lean just helped my creativity just flow better. Sometimes when I just had writer's block and sh*t like that. That was really mostly why I was sippin' lean."

He went on to advice the younger generation to stay off the drug and instead play basketball, read books or something else.

Smokepurpp like other artists said without  using the drug, writing was always frustrating.

Some quitted it because of the adverse health effect it has but he said he just got tired of it.
