So, what is adblock?

i know that alot of you be thinking that adblock actually block ads, but on the other hand it doesnt. Yo say what? yes, it doesnt! So, what does adblocks do? Adblockers no doubt play a key role in protecting our privacy and providing a smooth browsing experience. Oh, they do that by blocking ads? No!

Technically speaking, adblocks do not block ads - they simply block web requests that download content into the browser. In otherwords, adblockers stop ads from downloading on your browser, allowing web pages to load faster and offering a better browser experience.

I know all this explanation probably got you confused, because you may just have started out as a publisher and someone might have told you that adblockers block ads on your site. But, how does it work if it doesnt block ads on your site?

Adblock technology relies on simple lists called filter lists, that determine what to block and what to allow to appear on the pages you visit. These lists simply consist of a list of URLs in the form of an "allow list" or "block list".

when you visit a website, adblock quickly checks if that website is in on this filter lists. If it is, then the request to external content is blocked and the Ad is not downloaded into the web page. In summary, adblock technology is a set of rules that are established in this filter lists that determine what should be blocked or not blocked on the webpages you are visiting.

Ok, now that we have clearly known what adblock is and how it works. So, what is "in-page push notification"?

First introduced in 2020, it looks similar to push notifications but they are not push ads and that is why users dont need to subscribe to recieve them. In-page push ads are actually banner ads displayed directly on publishers websites and working on the CPC model. This means that in-page push ads are available for all users, on all devices - iOS included.

So, does in-page push ads get blocked by Ad blocks? Good thing is, the answer is no!
